The News in Brief

The tribunal delivered their verdict as promised on November 10th, though it took a day or so for the letter to reach us. And, as expected, they declared My Dear Wife and her colleague elected and annulled the second round, so denying Mr Bodin his seat on the council.
The final formality is a month’s grace to allow for the lodging of an appeal. This is frankly an unlikely thing to occur: any appeal would be heard only by the Conseil d’Etat which represents the highest administrative court in France. To approach this court, the appellate must engage a lawyer – an advocat – and this is pretty expensive, so is really only undertaken where there could conceivably be some margin for doubt, which in this case there really isn’t.
So there we are. Game over. More or less.
I haven’t bought any fizz just yet, though. I don’t like tempting fate.

Congratulations to Your Dear Wife – she’s bound to revolutionise the village!
I bet the risk-free fizz will be a fête worth waiting for!

Risk free fizz – sounds like a delightful idea. Sparkling apple juice perhaps?
I think she’s keen to start some proper work on the council. There’s plenty to do.
