Those Whom the Gods Love…

No jokes today. I’ve had a horrible week. My younger brother died suddenly on or about March 21st. I have to say on or about because no-one is quite sure, but he was found on that date – last Saturday – dead in bed, and had probably been there for two or three days.

His local paper ran an obituary (which you can read here if you have a mind to do so) which provides more or less all the salient facts.

He leaves an 11 year old daughter. We are just numb.

How terrible. I guessed that something must be up, when I kept coming here and there were no new bloggy things for me to read. I just hadn’t imagined anything so dreadful.

My commiserations to you, and to your family. And hugs to your neice.

Such a cruel shock for your family, Jon; I’m so very sorry.

From the obituary and from that lovely, twinkly photograph, it’s obvious he was a terrific bloke. Thank heavens for fabulous memories…

Enormous strength to you and his daughter particularly, and warmest wishes

That’s just awful Jon, its almost unbelievable that such things can happen so unexpectedly, and it helps put a lot of other ‘troubles’ in perspective.
Our thoughts are with you, and especially with his daughter.

I’ve only just read this post, and am so sorry to learn this dreadful news.

Deepest commiserations to yourself and Millie.

I hope you can take comfort from the fact that Martyn left in the manner most of us would choose if we could, albeit it far too young.

Having just found out – I feel quite hollow inside. I have fabulous memories of you both drinking gallons of coffee and both your parents house and mine! We had to get through the ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels somehow!!
